In his sophomore year, he endured the loss of his father. He rededicated his efforts to succeed, thrived academically, and excelled in extracurricular activities.
He credits the Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC), with helping him to focus as a student leader, a volunteer at local organizations, and an advocate for social justice.

He will attend Norfolk State University on an Army scholarship, where he plans to study mechanical engineering and enter the Army’s officer training program after graduation.
