Remembering the Waymakers

We salute two real catalysts for change in America when it was experiencing an unsettling future. Ella Baker was the stimulus among the men in the room and displayed a magnetism, especially among the young folks who were inspired by her to join the Civil Rights movement. After the clouds had barely passed after three major assassinations, the country was drawing lines in the sand, up steps a bold black woman from Brooklyn, New York who was declared, “I’m running for the presidency of the United States.” For those who witnessed the spirit of these two matriarchs, we saw what history was truly made of.
